From "BLUESY" (Oddiscs 1002)

The following three downloadable tracks were recorded by The Odyssey Blues Band in November 2000 in collaboration with Chanteuse Judy Gallimore.

"Woke Up This Morning" is a raucous rendition of a BB King big band classic, while "Rock Me Baby" is the sultry slow blues standard originally recorded by Otis Redding and, earlier, BB King. Finally the Eddie Floyd Soul classic "Knock On Wood" is given a modern sounding feel, without losing any of the groove of the original.

A consignment of the hard stuff is delivered on this disc by legendary American Bluesman Mississippi John L Watson together with the magnificient 7-strong Odyssey Blues Band.

John L's music has its roots in the Gospel choirs of his native Mississippi, and in his 30-year career he's toured with BB King, Muddy Waters and Jimi Hendrix.

A heady potion of Deep South Soul mixed with Northern hard-driving electric Blues is served here in one hectic but highly atmospheric day's recording in October 1998 at London's Denmark Street Studios.
